When can I register my club for the 2022 Season?
Registration is now officially open.
When does the season start and end?
The 2022 AFL season will start in February and end in July, roughly 6 months.
What is the registration fee for AFL?
The registration fee is $1,300 per club with a $1,000 security deposit to be refunded at the end of the season.
What does the registration fee cover?
The registration fee covers AFL league fees, player registration fee, live streaming platform, your club welcome box including player passes, official futsal balls for matches, official score sheets for matches, pre-match checklist, and everything your club needs to start the season successfully.
Why is a security deposit necessary to register?
A security deposit is necessary to ensure that there is fair play and an incentive against acts of misconduct and last minute match cancellations that could hinder a clubs experience with AFL. The security deposit will be returned at the end of the season.
Do you need to make a payment to register for AFL?
AFL will not require an initial payment to register your club. Completing the registration form will send your clubs information to a league representative who will review your club and send additional information once approved.
How will the league be structured?
Each club will play each other 2 times during the season, once at home and once away. The league will use a point system (Win=3 points, Tie= 1 point Loss= 0 points). At the end of the season the 2 clubs with the highest points will compete each other in the final which will determine the winners of the 2022 AFL season.
Is there a prize for 1st and 2nd place winners?
There is a cash prize for 1st place winners of $2,500.
How do I know if my club has enough structure to play professionally?
AFL is here to help your club make the transition from amateur to professional. We have representatives that will help ensure the success of each club so your club can be financially stable and continue to compete for many seasons to come. We are interested in clubs that want to grow and improve and will do everything we can as a league to help individual clubs succeed.
How many times can my club expect to travel?
Each club will be expected to travel at least 3 times during the 6 month season duration. AFL understands that traveling can be costly and will group matches accordingly so that clubs can make the travel time worth it and minimize expenses for the club.
What if my club can't pay the registration fee immediately?
AFL understands that due to COVID-19 many clubs are struggling and need more time to come up with the full registration fee and security deposit. AFL offers clubs that ability to make three smaller payments of $900, $700, and $700. The registration fee and security deposit will need to be paid in full prior to the first match in February 2022.
What is the deadline to register for the 2022 season?
Registration will remain open until December 1st, 2021.
